2011 ASPCA Rock N Roll Marathon Series

Ok hey guys so thanks to the EZ show sponsor Shelleys Doggie Digs I was invited to cover a marathon with over 8000 people running for abused animals this was a awesome event held in downtown los angeles. I guess Bret Michaels performed? I never saw him. There were many big sponsors like miller genuine draft beer, dodge cars many people dressed up in the spirit of halloween. It saddens me to say that someone cal lapsed at the finish line and passed away.
I think we should take a moment and pray for the family…….. :( besides that is was a promising day.

half marathon

A 40-year-old man died Sunday after he collapsed near the finish line of the Los Angeles Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon, according to authorities and the footrace’s medical director.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss, and our heartfelt sympathies go out to the runner’s family and loved ones,” said Dr. Lewis Maharam, medical director of the Competitor’s Group Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon races held around the country.

“The family has asked for their privacy during this difficult time,” Maharam said. “Out of respect for their request, we will have no further comment.” Race officials declined to release the man’s name.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the 600 block of Olympic Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles near the finish line of the race around 9:30 a.m., about two hours into the event. They performed CPR on the man before taking him to a nearby hospital.

Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott said the incident was the only serious health issue associated with the race that he was aware of. No further details were immediately available.

The race, with at least 8,000 runners and walkers, began and ended at L.A. Live, following a course that passed the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and crossed the 6th Street bridge, reaching Boyle Avenue before doubling back.

Jeffrey Henderson’s Birthday Extravaganza!!!

Jarvee Hutcherson, Jeffrey Henderson and Eric Zuley

Jarvee Hutcherson, Jeffrey Henderson and Eric Zuley

Celebrity Birthday Party:  Last night was Jeffrey Henderson‘s birthday extravaganza at the Biltimore Hotel and it was an incredibly classy event.   So many people showed up to celebrate the radio and film legend on his great day.  The atmosphere of the party was very classic Hollywood.   The birthday boy partied from 5pm to 6:30am and had a blast.  Jeffrey is playing the President in his newfilm but his digs were also presidential at the Biltmore.  He stayed in the Presidential Suite, the same place that JFK stayed during one of his visits to Los Angeles.   I just wonder he can smell a faint smell of Marilyn Monroe’s perfume.

Jeffrey on his birthday party:  ”Everyone came out and supported 1000%, Everyone was full of smiles and laughter, full of joy.  It was a amazing night for me and everyone.  It was a more classic, vintage atmosphere, and that is what I like.”

There was a great swell of well wishers:  WTV Networks was on full force,  Jarvee Hutcherson, the President of the Multicultural Motion Picture Association and the ASYM american society of young musicians, was present.   The band ‘West Republic’ was there. The have a hot single on Power 106. Maria Amor & Her Perfect Creatures and more were also present.    All of the personalities from KLAS, Jeffrey’s home station came to support him also.

Jeffrey Henderson has interviewed over 12,000 celebrities during his years as a radio personality.   He has interviewed the likes of: Chris Tucker, Jay Leno, Stevie Wonder, Will Smith, Sharon Stone, Ice T, 50 Cent, Kathy Ireland, Snoop Dogg, Billy Crystal, Mary J Blige, and The Late Rick James.  He keeps interviews topical and has a incredible ability to put celebrities at ease.  He has a memory like a sieve and he can remember 98% of what he is told.   This is a incredible talent and skill for a interviewer like Jeffrey.  He does extensive background research on anyone he interviews and has the perfect recall to remember it.

Richard Shouse: “What makes you such a good interviewer?”

Jeffrey Henderson: “I am very comfortable with people…and they like that.   I promote everyone that I interview..I put them in a very positive light (and) they love that.   Some people interview and talk about their personal life and people don’t like that at all.   They think your trying to be nosy…(they feel) you are trying to disrespect them… you have to flip it and make them feel comfortable.  Make them feel like the king and queen, they really are.   And folks love that… and they love to be promoted in a high intellectual way. “

Richard Shouse: “Where is Eric Zuley “Hollywood The EZ Way” movement going?”

Jeffrey Henderson: “Ez is very positive in what he is doing… He is helping a lot of people and their careers…The wide range of the people he knows is extraordinary. People really like EZ (because) he presents himself very sharp. He has very good management skills… his marketing skills are impeccable and people like that.  He is very approachable and EZ to talk too.   He has the slogan “Doing It The EZ Way” (which) is really popular and it is catching on…A lot of words and phrases and how we say them come back to EZ.  He has marketed and branded himself in a very powerful way with big time producers and big time directors.  His collaborations with organizations are just excellent. He knows everybody in the industry because Hollywood is a town not a city, Everybody knows everybody and EZ knows everybody… even out of the country and shot different videos out of the country. He is not just national but international.   He is very young and he got in the game at the (right) time to do some very good things for himself and for others.”

His show ‘The Jeffrey Henderson Show” is on KLAS 89.7 FM in Hollywood, California and on the internet.

Jeffrey will be leaving in January to India where he is filming 5 movies.  He will be playing Barack Obama in one of them.

It was a pleasure and honor to interview Jeffrey Henderson. He seems to be a very loveable, intelligent and interesting person.  I look forward to interviewing him again soon.

Larry Namer Co-Founder E! Television: Exclusive Interview

Larry Namer

Larry Namer

Celebrity Interview: Larry Namer has exemplified excellence in Cable programming for 4 decades.   He started as a cable splicer and rose to become the President and co-founder of his own Cable network, E! Entertainment Television.  Launching the careers of Greg Kinnear and Julie Moran on E! And now Eric Zuley on ‘Hello! Hollywood’.

Aside from his penchant to adding exclamation points to his projects, Mr. Namer has regularly damned market research and went on pure instinct, while creating highly successful programming in foreign markets.  His first foray into foreign markets was Russia.  Knowing that the citizens of Russia were destitute and looking for some pure escapism, after the fall of the U.S.S.R.   He found just what they were looking for in ‘Santa Barbara’, the popular American Soap Opera.  The Russian people loved the show, it became a must watch show and Russia’s first American programming since the fall of the Soviet Union.

Richard:  “You started out in lower levels of the cable industry in its infancy and worked your way up to Vice President, then President.

Larry Namer: “I started as a cable splicer, underground in Manhattan.  I was the Director of Corporate Development for Time Warner Cable before I went to Valley Cable as the Vice President and general manager of that cable system in Los Angeles that covers the Fernando Valley.  Then started E!, I was indeed the President.

Richard:  “Do you foresee yourself going further in it from a splicer, or did you realize while you were in it, that you could handle it?”

Larry Namer: “Well when I started from kind of a humble beginning, so I never quite where it would end up.  I always kind of felt that I would work my way up, where I was.  But no not at that time, the thought that one day I would start a TV network that would be around the world, never occurred to me.”

Richard:  “How did you decide to go into Russia?”

Larry Namer: “I was still at E! and a friend of mine who was a lawyer had some clients that were doing some merchant banking while it was still The Soviet Union and he asked me if I would go with his client and look at a deal that was being proposed to them and tell them if I thought it was a legitimate deal.  I thought it would be cool to go visit the Soviet Union.”

His latest endeavor is the Metan Development Group, which has a complete focus on China.   He has a deep love for the Chinese people and their culture.  He has long held a fascination with celebrities, celebrity news and culture and has begun the show ‘Hello! Hollywood’ to help bring Western Celebrity news to the Far East.

Richard: “When came time for you push into the China, where did it come from?  Was that instinctive thing or a series of connection that you felt you wanted to take care of?”

Larry Namer:  “It was instinctive thing, Five years ago I was actually invited by a government agency to come there and help work with young Chinese television executives, helping them with the transformation that was happening there.  Moving more towards commercial television…teaching and recognized the opportunity and fell in love with china and Beijing which is my favorite in the world.  Clearly this was a place for an independent entrepreneur like me.

Once the show was on the air, Larry took to the internet via a website and message boards to help fine tune their programming. He notably avoided market analysis from Beijing; the city Metan group is headquartered in.  When asked about this, he said “…it is kind of like having a TV project but realizing that you may not get New York and LA on day one.  Does our project have enough viability to sustain long enough to get into New York and LA? The same time of thing with Beijing. We are not getting into Beijing on first day and first show so let’s come up with projects that can be launched in other places around the country and eventually make its way to Beijing and which is what we did”.  My analysis says, that the occupants of a large city are the migrants from the smaller cities.  Focusing on the smaller markets and their cultural, sociological, and political ideology’s, would create programming attractive to the melting pot culture of Beijing.

There were special considerations when dealing with presenting Western Celebrity culture to China.  They needed a more detailed presentation with more back stories.  I asked Mr. Namer about the reason for these special considerations and he said “The Chinese people have not grown up with the same things that we have grown up with so they need context and backstory.”   The Chinese philosophy and sociality is based on thousands of years of existence. Most Chinese rituals go back further than America’s founding.  A culture so steeped in history is bound to want to know more than the just what happened in the past week.

Richard: “What brought your attention to Eric Zuley?”

Larry Namer: “Well, obviously I have an interest in pop culture, Hollywood, movie stars and all those things that made me come up with my idea for E!. I saw Eric (Zuley) around town, hustling his butt off, doing a lot of the things that we did to get E! off the ground in the early days.  I am a consummate entrepreneur myself.  I realized he was in an area we like, and he is a hardworking guy and he is busting his butt and is giving back and doing all the good things so we figured we would be supportive as we could be.”

Richard:  What is Eric’s EZ way movement to you?

Larry Namer: “it is Eric’s way of building his modern day network of Hollywood content and Hollywood people.  He is taking advantage of all the media platforms available.  It is a multi-platform approach to marketing all things Hollywood.”

Richard: “Your gut feeling about Eric’s appeal in China is one thing but what were the actual reasons he tested so well in the Chinese market?”

Larry Namer: “Eric has a very genuine way about him, First he is out there and everything going on (in Hollywood) he has hand in… he represents young Hollywood and young pop culture.  I felt that Chinese culture could relate to him and his way of telling stories.”

Richard:” Have you learned Mandarin yet?”

Larry Namer: “I am in the middle of learning it… it’s not easy.”

Richard: “Are you pressing Eric Zuley to learn it?

Larry Namer:  “If he wants to be a big deal in China…He will have to.”

Eric Zuley’s segment on “Hello! Hollywood” will be available on 270 million broadcast TVs with potential of 600 million people. It will be broadcast in six cities on the North American continent including: New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver, Canada.  The Metan Development Group has partnered with Chinese internet portal, TenCent, which has 200 million registered users.

Thank you Mr. Namer for your time and consideration.  Richard Shouse

Jack Sullivan CEO Hot Talk LA: Interview

Today, I am interviewing Jack Sullivan founder and CEO of HottalkLA and Web content manager of (NATPE) National Association of Television Program Executives.  Jack Sullivan is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He came to Los Angeles with a Master’s of Dramatic Arts in dramatic writing, screen writing, TV and playwriting from Carnegie Mellon.  He had a handshake agreement with the (MPCA) Motion Picture Corporation of America.  They hired me to write a war story screenplay.  He completed the script a day before the Writer’s Guild strike of 2000.  Since the writer’s strike happened they could not accept the screenplay and he had to go to work in Radio to make ends meet.

At CBS radio, he made a lot of contacts and worked as a receptionist for five years.   When the new media division at CBS opened in 2005, He became the new media director and produced content for the kls96.1.  He spearheaded the reality short form behind the scenes content for the Radio station.   He started streaming the radio online while it was on the air.  He also created original series.  While he was working for CBS Radio, He had the opportunity to work for NATPE because he wanted to work with the TV people.  He is currently NATPE’s new media producer and content manager.  He brainstorms, create, shoots, edit and post content for web related content related to NATPE and the Television at large and manage content across 7 web properties.

Eric Zuley’s ‘The EZ Show‘ is on HottalkLA

Richard Shouse:  “What does Eric Zuley’s ‘Hollywood the EZ way ‘ represent to you?”

Jack Sullivan:    “Eric Zuley and his EZ movement represent to me, a new trend in new media which is people getting together and trying finding ways to duplicate the old studio systems, distribution methods of Hollywood, local and national television… finding an easier way to connect to people who once were only behind closed doors, and only available through a gate keeper. Eric’s method for finding people, connecting them, creating projects, is going to be the new model for the media division.”

Richard Shouse:  “What’s Eric Zuley’s appeal to you?”

Jack Sullivan: “Eric’s appeal to me is multifaceted. First being, He is very accessible and he is just a regular guy. it is nice be able to talk to somebody who actually knows the business, inside and out and comes across not as a Hollywood insider but just as a regular guy. What is also appealing about it is it’s a very simple method to meet, connect and create projects that you can produce. It’s a great a new way of taking the next step to reach the next level in your career in Hollywood or just breaking in.”

Eric thanks you for the kind words and I thank you for your time and consideration. It was very cool and informative talking with you.

Co-founder of Apple Steve Jobs dead at Age 56

steve jobs

steve jobs

Celebrity obituary:  Apple Co-founder Steve Jobs dead at age 56 after a 8 year battle with health issues.  The titan of industry was challenged physically for so long.   He had a surgery for pancreatic cancer in 2004, and had a liver transplant in 2009.  His family surrounded him on his bedside as he passed yesterday. Steve Jobs was a revolutionary and the world is going to miss him.   His work has touched nearly everyone on the earth with his inventions.  He single-handedly ushered in the computing age.   Changing how everyone does everything.   The invention of the personal computer has made life both simpler and more complex.  One time tedious tasks have been transformed into simple point and click tasks. The grand irony of it all is that so many people learned of his passing on a device he created or mimics of his creation.

Here at GME experts, we are fully aware that without Jobs dedication to technology that it would be very much harder to put the Global in Global Management Entertainment Experts.  Eric Zuley‘s epic rise to fame and subsequent market penetration into China could have taken longer under the old Hollywood model.  EZ has achieved the status of viral king and without the viral, I don’t think they would allow him to be king.

My Joke:  Steve Jobs knocks on the door of heaven and St. Peter answers “Why should i let you in?”  Steve says, “I created a technology that made life easier for people, I benefited everyone around me, wasn’t greedy with employees, and created a device that allowed people to easily communicate and read books erc on a small tablet, which was copied nearly instantly”.  St Peter says, “Wait you created the I-Pad?  Steve asked “Yes, can i get in?”  St Peter answered “Sure we have a app for that”.
