(Hollywood, CA)February 21, 2011 – It is that season of the stars in tinsel town with various award ceremonies and festivities. Among of this year’s many star- studded celebrations is the Multicultural Motion Picture Association (MMPA) 18th Annual Oscar Week Student Filmmakers Scholarship Luncheon on Thursday. February 24, 2011. In addition this year’s luncheon will feature a grand Fashion Show. This highly anticipated celebration will be held at The London Hotel, (Kensington Ballroom)  located at 1020 N. San Vicente Blvd, West Hollywood, CA from 11 A.M.-2P.M. 

 

Each year past and present Oscar Award Nominees have attended this highly anticipated benefit such as Angelina JolieRobert DeNiro, Will SmithMichael MannHalle Berry and Clive Owen just to name a few. It is an intimate moment for the celebrities to not only enjoy a phenomenal celebration but also support the scholarship recipients. MMPA’s  Annual Oscar Week Luncheon  is recognized as one of the “must attend” events before the Oscars. 

 

The Executive Committee of the MMPA  conducts an extensive selection process of the recipients of The Filmmaker Awards. Each honoree is awarded with financial assistance and mentorship opportunities with various leaders in the motion picture industry. Each recipient has a unique background and offers something extraordinary to the cinematic field. These awards are made possible by the generous donations and contributions to MMPA’s Educational and Development Scholarship Fund.

 

 

The Executive Committee also selects highly distinguished individuals who have demonstrated great civic duties within the industry thus entitled “Civic Honorees” who will also be acknowledged and receiving awards. This year’s extraordinary Civic Honorees are A.C. Lyles (Paramount Pictures)Kate Linder (Actress) Edward Lozzi (Edward Lozzi & Associates),Michelle Phillips (Actress, Entertainer), Charles King (WME Entertainment) and just added “The Man with The Golden Voice”:, Ted Williams, (Second Chances Foundation). These dynamic individuals have made a powerful impact in the entertainment industry not only in their field, but also in their civic leadership.

 

Last years Honorees and Finalists included Quinton Aaron (2010 Breakout Artist “The Blind Side”)Kim Myers (2010 Writers Advocate Award)Tom Ford & David Scaerce (2010 MMPA Members Choice-Best Screenplay “A Single Man”) Director Lee Daniels and the cast of “Precious” (2010 Triumph of the Human Spirit Award)Anika Noni Rose (2010 Cinematic Inspiration Award, Walt Disney’s “The Princess & The Frog”)Shelly Jo Reesman (2010 Community Service Award) and many more.
