Man punched by Katt Williams denies using N-word

SACRAMENTO, CA – Comedian Katt Williams will avoid jail time for leading police on a chase through downtown Sacramento in November as long as he completes 90 days of community service.

Meantime, a Target employee punched by Williams in a separate incident caught on video disputed the comedian’s description of the heated encounter.

Williams will be allowed to serve in Los Angeles County, where he lives, followed by three years of unsupervised probation.  He was also ordered to pay court costs of $70.

“At some point you have to take responsibility for the mistakes and let everybody move on,” Williams said outside the courtroom.

He still faces a misdemeanor battery charge in Yolo County for the Woodland Target incident that happened the same day as the Sacramento chase.

Williams insisted he struck employee Forrest Liebenberg only after Liebenberg used the N-word.

“It was a situation where I got into it with one guy who decided he was going to make me hit him,” Williams said.

But in an interview later at Liebenberg’s Davis home, Liebenberg denied making any offensive remarks.

“The people who were there know what was said, so I totally disregard (what he says).  It totally didn’t happen,” Liebenberg insisted.

Liebenberg lost his job over the incident, he says, because Target didn’t like the way he handled the confrontation.

Liebenberg believes he showed restraint by not striking back at Williams.

“I think I did the right thing,” he said.  “So I think it’s kind of confusing why I got the sour end of the deal.”
